This morning we practiced using words with -eer and -ear. The students have one page of spelling homework. Then, we introduced the vocabulary and talked about details that support a main idea. We completed our DLP as well. The students went to gym and LRC today. This afternoon, we completed two centers/guided reading groups. We read books about Johnny Appleseed and/or apples. In math, we learned about surveys and how to conduct one. We looked at tally marks on our charts and interpreted the data. The students have one page of math homework. In Social Studies, we talked about goods, services, and budgets. We talked about how we have to pay for things we NEED before we can have what we WANT. Have a Wonderful Thanksgiving from Mrs. Bognetti!

We completed our week by writing about what we would do if we were passengers on the Mayflower. Then, we watched a Peanuts movie about their trip on the Mayflower. The students went to art and music. Then, we briefly had math class and worked on problem solving using a calendar. I sent home all of the Thanksgiving activities we worked on this week. Enjoy them with your families. I wish you a wonderful week and am so glad I've gotten to meet with all of you this week!

Wednesday in Mrs. Bognetti's Room

Today we learned a lot about Thanksgiving! We started the day by writing what we like about Thanksgiving. Then, we watched a video clip on making lists (topic: What We Eat for Thanksgiving Dinner). Then, we wrote our own recipes to help you next Thursday on how to make a turkey! Stop by before or after your conference to check out our recipes on the wall outside our classroom (as well as our Landform Models and Dioramas in the cases in the lobby)! We watched a movie about William Bradford and the Pilgrims' First Thanksgiving. Then, we wrote about and drew pictures of the Mayflower. We also went to music. This afternoon, we completed two groups of guided reading/centers. Then, in math we learned about calendars. Both classes have homework. In Social Studies, we read a Reader's Theater script about a Thanksgiving Tale. Then, we read a mini-book about the Voyage of the Mayflower. At the end of the day, the children cleaned out their desks so they are beautiful when you come for conferences. See you either tonight, tomorrow, or Friday!

Then, we wrote some describing words on some turkey feathers to tell what a turkey is like. The students went to gym and LRC. We took a timed math test before lunch. Then, we completed one guided reading group this afternoon. In math, we learned about elapsed time. Some students have math homework, others were collected. We had a severe weather drill today.
