Then, we talked about inferencing, practiced our vocabulary and word wall words. After library, we wrote facts on the board about whales that we read in books. Then, we began writing non-fiction paragraphs. We will finish them tomorrow. In math, we practiced double-digit subtraction. Most students have homework. At the end of the day, we went to gym, music, and celebrated a classmate's birthday.

Wednesday in Mrs. Bognetti's Class
It was a crazy day! The children did a great job being flexible today to squeeze in the vision and hearing tests between learning activities. We started the morning by writing in journals and talking about words with -oo and -ue. We also re-read our story Dear Mr. Blueberry. After gym and music, we completed our centers/guided reading. This afternoon, we learned how to subtract double-digit numbers from double-digit numbers. Most students have math homework. In Science, we reviewed for our test on Friday. I have sent home a list of pages for you to re-read at home as well as the vocabulary words to concentrate on. The students also need to know which animals/plants survive in which habitats. We'll take home the science books tonight and tomorrow night. Thanks for helping your child study!

In math today, we practiced subtracting with regrouping. Tomorrow we will start double digit minus double digit numbers. Most students did have homework today. In Science, we re-read our lesson about the Artic-our last habitat to cover before the test on Friday. We drew pictures of animals to add to our bulletin board of the Arctic habitat. We looked at a map of the Arctic and completed a few worksheets together. Use them to review for the test! I will send home the pages for you to review along with the Science book tomorrow and Thursday night. At the end of the day, we learned the cursive letter "b".

Monday in Mrs. Bognetti's Class
This morning we wrote about what life would be like with a pet whale. It was interesting! Then, we talked about words with -oo and -ue. We completed an activity together and introduced our spelling words for this week. We talked about letters that include an invitation. Then, we used our sentences to write adjectives to describe nouns. We had a PBIS assembly, as well as a Stranger Danger assembly. We want to make sure all children know what to do in case a stranger approached them. After that we went to art class. This afternoon, we learned how to subtract with regrouping (borrowing). Most students do have homework. In Social Studies, we read about different types of bank accounts. If your child has never been inside a bank, that might be a fun little field trip for you to take! We talked about how children can have their own savings accounts! Also, you may want to show your child what your checkbook looks like. We looked at a sample check and talked about how they work. We also learned about what happens when you don't pay off your credit card every month....life lessons! We learned about pie charts as well. At the end of the day, we learned the cursive letter "l".
