This morning we learned that abbreviations are shorter versions of a longer word. We talked about days of the week, months of the year, people's titles, street names, and measurement abbreviations as well. Then, we completed an activity in class and introduced similar spelling words. Students must capitalize them and have periods for the words to be counted correct. We completed our DLP, talked about adjectives, and more plural nouns. We completed two guided reading groups. In Science, we worked on a booklet about SUE. Last week, we had read a book about the famous T-Rex and the woman who discovered her bones. Today, we compared ourselves to her and discussed how neat it would be to find a discovery like her. This afternoon, we used money to tell the difference between tens and ones. Both classes have math homework. In Social Studies, we worked on our landform boxes. The children enjoyed working with the clay to build mountains, rivers, hills, peninsulas, etc. At the end of the day, the children went to gym class.
Don't forget: ONLY TWO DAYS LEFT UNTIL THE DINOSAUR PARAGRAPHS AND DIORAMAS ARE DUE! Make sure you have your child practice reading his/her paragraph, as he/she will have to present it to the class!
