It's so good to be back! The children were excited to dive into another day! We wrote about what we did in school this week and discussed it. Then, we reviewed words with -ed (changing the y to and i) and broke down some words into syllables. The children have one page of spelling homework. We talked about how to compare and contrast two things, as well as causes and effects. We re-read our story Frog and Toad in small groups. We reviewed the vocabulary words and finished our DLP for today. We worked on a grammar page identifying the naming parts of sentences (subject). We also went to the library. This afternoon, the sorting hat placed us in houses, as it did the characters in our Harry Potter story. I have a puppet of the sorting hat and the children had a lot of fun being sorted themselves. In math, we learned how to use a ten frame to help us add and subtract nines. The children do have math homework. They went to music and gym at the end of the day.
Don't forget we have a Reading and Spelling test tomorrow (books were sent home). They have three tests in their folders for you to sign and return. It is also an Early Release Day!
