This morning we took our Reading MAP tests. It is an assessment that helps teachers plan how to teach based on the strengths and weaknesses of each child. The test is taken on the computer and is tailored to each child. After, we talked about friendship, reviewed words with -ed endings, and completed a workbook page. Then, we did a making words activity. You can reuse these letters at home to practice spelling words. The students have one page of spelling homework. We introduced the vocabulary words (Thanks for practicing at home!), practiced using the words and read the story Henry and Mudge Under the Yellow Moon. We also talked about the setting of a story (when and where it takes place). This afternoon we practiced silent reading. We started subtraction in math. The children do have one page of math homework to finish. Then, we did an explore activity in Science (ask your child about it!) as we learned about erosion. We worked with a partner on the lesson outline and watched a video clip showing examples of how erosion works. They do need to finish the worksheet for homework.
I look forward to meeting all of you at Curriculum Night tomorrow night! Plan on being here at 6pm!
