After we wrote in our journals this morning, we practiced reading long words with -ed endings. We added a few words to our Quick Words list and worked on a workbook page. We cut apart letters and built our spelling words. The letters are coming home in a baggie. Please use them with your child at home! He/she should be able to build all of the 10 core words with -ed endings. The students have one page of spelling homework. Then, we discussed and cut apart our vocabulary words on cards. We used a Power Point presentation to put the words into sentences. We also read our new story for this week, Henry and Mudge Under the Yellow Moon. We went to gym and LRC today. This afternoon, we read some more of Harry Potter and then I used my sorting hat to sort the students into their houses for fun. In math, we used our knowledge of fact families to solve for missing addends. We completed some workbook pages in class and the students have one page of homework to finish tonight. We also took a timed test. We are progressing! Then, in Social Studies, we did a picture sort. We had to decide where we would find certain things in which communities.
Don't forget that Curriculum Night is tomorrow night! Mr. Langman will be explaining our new grading system, so don't miss it!
