Today was challenging because the power was out for part of the morning. We practiced using words with -ed in our journals. We completed a workbook page and our DLP sentences. We completed our spelling worksheet in class. I taught the students how to do a "scavenger hunt" in Henry and Mudge. We looked for our vocabulary words, words with -ed endings, and for something Henry and Mudge like to do with each other while we re-read the story. We completed one center today. We went to music class, too. When we came back, the power was restored! In Social Studies, we learned about borders on a map, our neighbors to the north and south, and how to use a map key. We worked on two questions for our Daily Oral Geography, as well. This afternoon, we read some more of Harry Potter. After, we reviewed yesterday's math lesson, as many students had problems with last night's homework. Then, we wrote number expressions for certain numbers together and in our workbooks. The students have one page of math homework to complete tonight. At the end of the day, we took our Reading MAP test on the computer. We use the data to drive our instruction for each child. You will receive your child's results around report card time.
Remember that Curriculum Night starts at 6:30 tonight. Don't miss it! I'm looking forward to meeting all of you.
