Monday in Mrs. Bognetti's Room

This morning I saw some tired faces! This time change has all of us goofed up! We were, however, able to learn quite a few things today. First, we talked about words with -ar, -arm, or -ark. We sorted words into categories, introduced our spelling words, and completed a workbook pages using words containing those patterns. Then, we completed our DLP, talked about using sequencing words (first, next, then, last) and about capitalizing names of animals, cities, and states. We completed two centers/guided reading groups today. In Science, we finished learning about endangered animals. We also started studying for our test on Wednesday. Look for a half sheet in your child's folder today showing which pages you can review at home. The Science book will be sent home tonight and tomorrow night. In math, we started practicing how to tell time. We covered hours and half hours. We made a clock to use in class. My class has two sheets for homework, Mrs. Walter's has one. Please practice telling time at home. Show your child where the clocks are in your home. If possible, get your child a watch (with hands!) to start wearing so he/she can practice daily. In Social Studies, we read about natural resources and how we use crops. We completed an activity showing how we use air, water, forests, and soil. We also made two vocabulary cards for a Social Studies test next week. At the end of the day, the children went to gym class.
