Wednesday in Mrs. Bognetti's Room

This morning we practiced reading words with -our, found -our words in a decodable book, and we have a spelling page for homework using the same words. Then, we re-read the story Hedgehog Bakes a Cake in groups. The children need to finish a scavenger hunt for homework as well. Then, we completed guided reading groups. The children went to music class. After, we looked at some old fruit crate labels and seed packet labels that are in the Smithsonian Institution. We completed an activity that analyzed those labels and packets and then we drew one of our own! This afternoon, we read a little bit of Harry Potter and then took some time to silent read. In math, we practiced counting sets of coins and then comparing that set to a price of an item to find whether we could buy that item or not. Mrs. Bognetti's class has homework, while some of Mrs. Walter's class does not. We have also been singing some songs about what coins make a dollar to help the students remember! In Science, we did an explore activity to show what happens to animals if they do not have food, shelter and water. Ask your child if she/he "lived" or "died". Then, we completed a lesson outline in class and watched a movie on endangered animals. We will have a test covering fossils, dinosaurs, and endangered animals in science next week.
