Monday in Mrs. Bognetti's Room

We started off today by writing in our journals. Our topic today was, "Penguins..." We used a couple of minutes this morning to finish the Harry Potter movie. Then, we talked about similarities and differences between the movie and the book. We also learned two new suffixes, -ing and -ly. We also introduced our new Spelling words and did our centers. In Science, we did an Explore Activity with plants. We have Plant A and Plant B that we are keeping near sunlight and watering daily. However, Plant B has foil covering its leaves. We are observing the changes all week to see how Plant B reacts to receiving no sun because of the foil and we will use it to compare to Plant A. We are recording our observations everyday and we will compare the results to our predictions on Friday. In math, we learned about sliding, turning, and flipping shapes. Neither, Mrs. Barrett's nor Mrs. Walter's math classes have homework. In Social Studies, we continued working on our drawings of our Washington, D.C. monuments. They are looking great and some groups have moved onto to tracing and coloring. We ended the day with gym.
