Thursday in Mrs. Bognetti's Room

We started today by writing in our journals. Our topic today was, "When I am rushed, or running late, I feel..." We reviewed the suffixes -ly and -ing and practiced adding them to words. We also talked about the differences between fact and fiction. We talked about fiction having characters, plot, and a setting. Fact reading, or nonfiction, is to gain knowledge and information. We also watched the documentary movie, "The March of the Penguins." It goes along with our story this week, The Emperor's Egg and the students chose and wrote down three interesting facts that they learned from the documentary. After lunch, we finished watching the movie and Mrs. Barrett continued reading Harry Potter. In math, we learned how to guess and check our answers for finding perimeter. Students in Mrs. Walter's math class have homework and students in Mrs. Barrett's math class, also have homework. We went to the library this afternoon and came back to finish our "parts of a plant," art project and read a Time for Kids magazine.
