Tuesday in Mrs. Bognetti's Class

Happy Valentine's Day! We worked in a Valentine's Day packet for a little while this morning. Then, we got straight to work! We practiced making words with -f or -fe endings. Then, we changed the f to a v before adding -es. Then, we used our imaginations to picture in our minds and then write adjectives to tell what we felt in different settings. We wrote some great adjectives! After, we introduced the vocabulary words for the story Cool Ali. In the story, a girl cools off her neighborhood by drawing pictures with chalk. The children really enjoyed it! We also did an activity using antonyms (opposites). We completed our DLP, too. After literacy, we went to the computer lab and learned about Presidents' Day. This afternoon, we learned how to rewrite subtraction problems from their horizontal position to a vertical position. We agreed that it is much easier to regroup when it is written vertically! Most students do have homework. In Social Studies, we learned how to barter (trade goods or services without using money). We wrote our last vocabulary card. The set will be coming home tonight for you to help your child study for the test on Friday! Then, we re-read the lessons with a partner and completed a vocabulary review sheet. At the end of the day, we exchanged Valentines. Enjoy the evening with your little Valentine!
