Tuesday in Mrs. Bognetti's Class

It is always odd to have a Monday schedule on a Tuesday, but we did it. I hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend. This morning we wrote about what it would be like to be a baby duck. Then, we read a story about a duck that almost gets outsmarted by a fox! We introduced words with -ing and -ly endings and clapped some out in syllables. Two spelling words that were very challenging for us: completely and actually. Please practice! Luckily, you will have until next Wednesday to study. We are going to extend this week's story, due to the shortened week, into next week. There is so much to learn about penguins! Then, we completed the DLP, talked about words that compare (-er, and -est), and started writing paragraphs about how to make a snowman. We went to the computer lab as well. This afternoon, we learned how to add and subtract using mental math. I am not requiring that students use mental math on their homework, however. If they are more comfortable showing their regrouping, that is perfectly acceptable. Most students do have homework. In Science, we made a foldable that will help us take notes on fresh and salt water habitats. We re-read our lesson on fresh water habitats and took notes about ponds and streams. Then, we completed two worksheets together. Save them to study from for the test! There is a possibility that we may have one by the end of NEXT week.
