Thursday--Miss Calderone's class

Today was a very fast day! We began our day correcting our D.L.P. and writing in our May journal. While we were doing that we had AIMSweb testing in the hallway. We continued on to complete 3 centers and then had literacy. We worked independently to complete a "Dinosaurs Travel" Scavenger Hunt! We looked for the vocabulary words, tips for travelers, and different ways of traveling. After that we reviewed verbs in present and past tense and practiced changing present verbs to past. We then learned another cursive letter; M. After that we had social studies. We learned about the first colonists to arrive in the Americas and the settlement of Jamestown. We then watched a very informative movie about the first colonists. The students really enjoyed it. After lunch we read Harry Potter for a bit and then had math. Today we continued working on multiplication. Some of us finished our multiplication drawings, but some need to finish them for homework. After math we had science. We read a Time For Kids magazine and then began the new chapter. We talked a bit about fossils and imprints. We practiced being scientists and tried to figure out different imprints in Play-Doh. After going over the answers many of the students figured them all out! Our day ended with P.E.

The homework for tonight is to read "Dinosaurs Travel"/study, complete the spelling packet/study, remember to bring your field trip money and form, and some students have math. Please remember that tomorrow is a half day!
