Thursday--Miss Calderone's class

Today we began our day correcting our D.L.P. and writing in our May journal about the field trip. After sharing we jumped into centers. We completed 3 centers and in between the 2nd and 3rd center we learned a new cursive letter, Q. After centers we reviewed helping verbs and completed a grammar sheet on them. We then learned about homophones; different words that sound the same. We came up with some examples and then completed a sheet with partners. The students did an awesome job! We then moved on to social studies. We reviewed the reasons for the colonists wanting independence and then learned about westward expansion. We talked about Lewis and Clark and watched a short movie about their journey. After lunch we read Harry Potter for a bit and then had math. Today we started division! We did a lot of examples together and then the students worked independently to show me what they could do! The students did an excellent job for their first day of division. After math we had science. We completed a sheet that had us thinking about what clues fossils give us to tell us about animals from the past. Our day ended with P.E.

The homework for tonight is to read Montigue/study, complete the spelling packet/study, and my class has math 28-4. Also if your child wants to be in the talent show the slip is due tomorrow!
