Wednesday--Miss Calderone's class

Today we started our day correcting our D.L.P. and writing in our May journals. We used the word wall words to write sentences and then shared what we wrote. After that we reviewed the verbs go, went, did, and do and then independently finished a grammar sheet. After turning that in we learned the cursive letter, L. We practiced writing for a bit and then had a mini math lesson about multiplication. Our computer center this week had us solving multiplication sentences so we needed to refresh our memories before playing. We completed 3 centers and ended the morning with social studies. We learned about the Powhatan, Sioux, and Pueblo Native Americans. We talked about where they lived, what they lived in, and the resources they used in their daily lives. We filled out our first vocabulary word of the unit, shelter. After lunch a student showed us a picture album she brought in. We had a great time looking at the really neat pictures! After that we switched for math. We continued to work with multiplication. This time we worked breaking down the multiplication facts. For example, 2+2+2=2x3. We did some examples together and then worked on white boards to practice. Many students caught on quickly! Library was after math and we finished the day with our Book Buddies.

The homework for tonight is to read Dinosaurs Travel, S.S. pg. 49/50, math 28-1, get the science test signed, and also get your field trip permission slip and money turned in as fast as possible!
