Wednesday in Mrs. Walter's Room

Today we started in our journals by writing about what we like to pretend or imagine. The students got very creative with their ideas. Then we re-read our story Henry and Mudge. After that, the students were split up into groups of three. They had to find words in our reading story that end in -ed, and then write new sentences with those words. The students enjoyed working in small groups, and they did a great job. We did some work with our spelling words, and did our DLP for the day. Then we went to gym class. After gym we worked in social studies for a bit. We were working on maps. The studnets then got a turn to make their own maps of their communities. They loved doing this. After lunch we worked on our phonics. Then we all went to the library to take the MAP test. This is a test that will assess where the studnets reading level is at. In about two weeks, we will be doing the math test. After that we dove into our math books. We worked on a challenging area of math today. So, we apent some extra time on it and brought out manipulatives to help us. After math we brought out our science books and talked about erosion some more. At the end of the day the students finished up their maps from social studies.
