Friday--Miss Calderone's class

Today was a fast day! We started out writing in our January journals about what it would be like to have a dinosaur as a pet. After sharing some stories we read a snowman story. We then reviewed changing singular words that end in y to their plural forms. The students caught on quickly! We took our spelling pre-test and then corrected the words together. We then learned about possessive nouns. We did some examples on the board and will go more in depth next week. We completed 2 centers before taking our social studies test to end the morning. After lunch our mystery reader came and visited us and we had a very special surprise; one of the students got up and read a book to us, too! She did awesome! We then had math where we continued to practice double digit addition. We focused on the correct place to put a single digit number when adding it to a double digit number. We worked in partners to complete some workbook pages and then came together to correct them. After math we went to music and ended our day celebrating two birthdays! We had some really good treats!

The homework for the weekend is to read Pumpkin Fiesta, complete math pg. 13-5, and begin studying for the science test. I'm planning on it being on Thursday next week, but that may change. I will send a note home on Tuesday to let you know.

****Remember no school on Monday!
