Thursday--Miss Calderone's class

We began our day correcting our DLP and writing in our Jan. journals. We used the word wall words to create sentences and then shared what we wrote. We then learned the second cursive letter; t. After practicing it, we reviewed holidays and how they are proper nouns. We then were assigned a month and created a calendar and picture that also included any holidays and/or special events for that particular month. It was a big job but the calendars look awesome! After finishing we began working on a Secret Life of Trees packet. We used our books to find answers. We will have some more time next week to finish the packet and go over it as a class prior to the test. We watched a movie on natural resources and finished up the morning reading another part of our story. After lunch we read Harry Potter for a bit and then moved onto math. We learned about renaming numbers by moving numbers from the tens group into the ones group. We practiced a lot and I encouraged the students to draw pictures if they need to. It can help a lot to understand what's happening visually. We moved onto science and learned about the 3 states of matter. I was pleasantly surprised to see how excited the kids were to learn about solids, liquids, and gases! We had a great discussion before going to P.E.

The homework for tonight is to read The Secret Life of Trees, math 12-4, and science pg. 239/240.

****Please remember we have a half day tomorrow!!!!!! Still bring a snack :)
