Tuesday--Miss Calderone's class

What a busy day! We started the day correcting our D.L.P. and writing in our journals about strange events that have happened to us. After sharing we listened to a short story and then learned the vocabulary words for the new story. Before reading the new story we learned the cursive letter, m. After writing for a bit we read and discussed The Pine Park Mystery. After reading we researched a Mynah bird and saw a picture of a real one! We then learned about what a verb is. We came up with a list together and then completed a grammar sheet with a partner. We corrected the page together. We then had 2 centers. After centers we finished the morning with social studies. We reviewed a mayor and then learned about a governor. We read a couple pages in our book and draw a diagram to show the relationship between a mayor and governor in our social studies notebook. After lunch and recess we switched for math right away. We reviewed what we learned yesterday and worked with place value today. The students each had a turn representing a number to the hundreds with blocks. After that we worked in our math book independently and corrected everything together. We finished math working on the challenge side of our homework. We went over a couple answers just to make sure everybody understood. After math we quickly went to art and finished the day with science. To reinforce what we've learned about our bodies we will be creating life size bodies and labeling and drawing organs and other parts! We went to the gym and worked with a partner to trace our bodies. We're hoping for the finished product before spring break!

The homework for tonight is to read The Pine Park Mystery, math 21-2, social studies page 39/40, and sign the math test.
