Wednesday--Miss Calderone's class

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY! Today we began our day writing in our journals and correcting our D.L.P. After that we reviewed verbs and made a web together. We then wrote down verbs on index cards and put them in a bag. Students came up, picked a verb, acted it out in front of the class, and we guessed the verb! We had a great time. We then worked with a partner to finish a grammar sheet. After correcting that we made a web of community workers. We also identified what they do for our community. We then completed 3 centers. Our morning ended with centers. We reviewed a mayor, governor, and president and completed a chart about our city and state. After lunch we read Harry Potter for a bit and then had math. We reviewed place value and then learned about expanded form (500 + 60 + 8= 568). I put a number on the board and the students wrote expanded form on their white boards. Everybody caught on so well that we began writing expanded for to the thousands place! We still had time after that so we worked with partners on our homework. We then corrected everything in class. I did ask that the students show you what we did. After math we had library and then finished working in partners to complete some St. Patrick's Day papers.

The homework for tonight is to read The Pine Park Mystery, some have a math sheet, and then if you plan on getting pictures on Friday please bring your picture form.
