Tuesday--Miss Calderone's class

What a fast day! We began our day correcting our D.L.P. and writing in our March journals. We then reviewed verbs, naming parts, and telling parts. We then worked with a partner to complete a grammar sheet which had us identifying all of those parts of a sentence. The students did a great job. We moved on to learn about the cursive letter, y. After practicing, some firefighters came to visit us and talk to us about fire safety. Some of us even had the chance to pretend call 911 and practice what we would say. The students loved it! After they left we learned the vocabulary for the new story and read Good-Bye Curtis. We read and discussed the story together. We unfortunately did not have any time for centers. Our morning ended with social studies. We reviewed what we learned about the 3 parts of government and who is in charge of a city, state, and country. We took some notes to help us study and then researched the state bird and flower for Illinois. After lunch we stopped, dropped, and read for a bit. We then switched for math. We reviewed adding double digits with regrouping and moved along to add triple digit numbers with regrouping. We did lots of examples together and by the end it seemed to click. We completed some math problems while I walked around and checked/helped. After math we went to art and finished the day with science. We took the brain, heart, and lungs we colored and glued them onto our human body! We had a great time.

The homework for tonight is to read Good-Bye Curtis, math 23-2, and study for the social studies test (a note went home today).
